From Guild to Worshipful Company

The story of our 'Road to Livery' was documented in 2004; please download a copy by clicking on the image to the left.

We began life as a Guild of the City of London in 1992 and became a ‘Company without Livery’ in 1999. In 2004, the Court of Aldermen granted the Company’s petition to become a fully-fledged Livery Company of the City of London, followed by the 'clothing' of our Court. Later that year, we received our Letters Patent and our company was formally clothed. Our Royal Charter was presented to us by the Earl of Wessex in 2008, the final stage of confirming our legal status as a Livery Company.
