The Past Mistress writes...

Winding down, while not being able to resist Art in the City....

Elizabeth asked me to write something, again, but as Past Mistress life is beginning to wind down, or at least it should be.

It was great to meet the new Master’s Consort, Kate Ellis– we seem to have gone to the same school in Tunbridge Wells, at about the same time - so the TWIGS triad (including Sally Garratt) had a good old reminisce!

Most recently I have been to Art in the City – this is an annual exhibition of art work done by their Liverymen and Freemen, organised by the Worshipful Company of Painter Stainers, in their hall.  It was an amazing display, containing pictures that were over 10 feet in width (and costing over £7000) to small hand-decorated bowls. Many were by recognised artists and all were for sale.  I couldn’t resist a handmade and hand-decorated pottery bowl.  But David bought a picture of the Old Bailey – to remind him of the view from our flat!  (And jailed and bailed, I think!)

David and I are moving north on a slightly more permanent basis;   but he’ll be back for appropriate events, and I might join him.  Already there’s been the Lord Mayor’s Show;  and now Christmas lunch to look forward to.
