PM David Johnson

David is an experienced Management Consultant and businessman, interested in the Livery since attending a Haberdashers’ School in Shropshire. He is supported by his wife, Dr Mary Linington (Liveryman Educator) and daughter Jackie, one time assistant to the clerk of WCoMC.

After a degree apprenticeship with GEC Telecommunications, making him an alumni of Coventry University, he was subsequently employed in Rubber, Metal & Food industries in the Midlands. He then joined Coopers & Lybrand, and Spicer and Pegler in the City. He led assignments in UK and overseas, in Government and the Private Sector, from systems design through to strategy and corporate finance.

David established his own consulting business in 1986 and, in parallel, helped build and successfully sell, a new business in robotics before buying and running a London based dental instrument company. He retired in 2011 to focus on other interests including Livery Apprenticeships. He proposed and helped deliver a Government-funded ‘Employer Ownership of Skills’ pilot scheme for craft apprenticeships within multiple Livery Companies, better known as the Livery Companies Apprenticeship Scheme.

His work on apprenticeships led him to get WCoMC involved in the Management Consulting Apprenticeship Trailblazer as it was mandatory that small business employers were involved. The Junior Management Consultant Apprenticeship is now being used to train young people as Management Consultants.

His other interests include the London Welsh Community, Shropshire Society in London, Federation of Small Businesses, Rotary Club of London and the City Livery Club .

He was admitted to WCoMC in 2000, became an Assistant in 2007 and Second Warden in 2015.
