At the Hackney Carriage Drivers' Service....
HRH The Prince of Wales is reminded of Management Consultants' contribution to the Prince's charitable interests....
It was a special occasion and a distinction for the Company when the Master and Clerk were invited to attend the presentation of the Royal Charter to the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers.
The presentation on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen was made by HRH The Prince of Wales. He made a fine speech to the congregation about the work of the Hackney Carriage Drivers, including its annual Magical Taxi Tour in over 90 taxis, plus police etc escorts, to take some 200 sick children for a three day trip to Disneyland Paris. He spoke more broadly of the public service and charitable activities of the Livery, and its contribution to City life.
Our Master and the Clerk had the honour to be presented to Prince Charles. Edward mentioned to His Royal Highness our substantial and long-running pro bono work and the support we have provided to interests of the Prince's Trust. The Prince clearly closely follows the activities of the Trust.
The Court of the Hackney Cab Drivers lined the entire path out of the Church to provide a robed Honour Guard when Prince Charles left, forming a fine sight.
The Service and Presentation was at St Bartholomew the Great Church in Smithfield, a very historic church originally associated with a Priory on the site. In Edward's blog ( https://wcomc.org/node/212 ) he writes more about this special church and neighbourhood. The Rector will be preaching at our Annual Service in September.
