The Master's Voice....
I suppose it's been a fairly quiet month for most people - unless, that is, you've been lucky enough to choose the right places to ski or found the sun (and people appear to have had to go as far as New Zealand for one or both!). Anyway, with luck, it does seem to be getting warmer and drier so, perhaps, soon we'll be thinking about what to do in the spring.
While continuing to provide the external face of our company to other companies and to Mansion House, I'll be working with our teams to ensure that our big events continue to build our reputation as THE Company for Pro Bono work and for a growing capability to make a significant contribution nationally.
Meanwhile we can also enjoy the fellowship that flows from coming together to celebrate our success at, for example, our prestigious Livery Dinner in April (and If you insist in asking me what else I'm up to, I'll just reply a spot of sailing, fishing and digging!).
Anyway, I wish you all a very enjoyable March and look forward to reading everyone's news as you send it through to Elizabeth.

Worshipful advice....
A Management Consultant on holiday [but naturally, always on the alert] was at the pier of a coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked.
Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The consultant complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them.
The Mexican replied, "Only a little while."
Aware of the precious nature of advice from a Management Consultant, and feeling generous, the consultant then asked, "Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more fish?"
The Mexican said, "With this I have more than enough to support my family's needs."
The consultant then asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?"
The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play my guitar with my amigos, I have a full and busy life."
Unable to resist offering a different strategy, the consultant scoffed, "I can help you. You should spend more time fishing; and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats. Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor; eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, branding, processing and distribution. You could leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then Los Angeles and eventuallyto New York where you could run your ever-expanding enterprise."
The Mexican fisherman asked, "But, how long will this all take?"
The consultant replied, "15 to 20 years."
"But what then?" asked the Mexican.
The consultant laughed and said, "That's the best part. When the time is right you would sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions."
"Millions?...Then what?"
The consultant said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos."
