HAPPY  SUMMER !

Your Master's Voice....

Well here we are in the middle of the summer holiday season, I certainly hope that you are all having some time with family and loved ones. Kulbir and I will be enjoying a break in Tuscany during the second half of of August!

September will be a busy month for the Company. We have the Urwick Lecture on 11th September - a new addition to our events programme. This is being organised by the Centre for Management Consulting Excellence led  by Father of the Livery PM Calvert Markham. Also new to this year's programme will be an Autumn Party on 21st September at Skinner's Hall. Save the date and look out for details! Oh - and before I forget - we also have the Annual Church Service, 5pm to 6pm on the same day!

As I approach a hugely rewarding and eventful year, I am poised to ask the next aspiring Masters of our Livery Company to put your names forward and stand for the Court. There are 3 vacancies this year for Court Assistants. Please contact me or the Clerk directly.

On 8th September I will be abseiling down the Leadenhall building in aid of the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal. I'll be writing to you separately about this event and how to sponsor me!

For those who missed this article last month: both the Governor of the Bank of England and the Environment Secretary made statements this week about this very issue...i.e. Is the motor finance market in 2017 heading in the same direction as the mortgage market in 2007?  The size of the markets are very different, but this information out of the US should prompt UK firms to review the adequacy of their risk controls, and assess their exposure... Assistant Frank Brown refers us to published information on the current health of the motor finance sector, in the structurally similar markets of the US and UK - because what happens in the US today will often follow in Britain tomorrow....

Serious Worshipful Reflections....

A project manager was out walking alongside The Thames one day when a frog called out to him. He bent down, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket. The frog poked its head out of his pocket and said   "Hey, if you kiss me I'll turn me back into a beautiful princess, and I'll stay with you for a week as your girlfriend."

The project manager took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it, and put it back into his pocket.

The frog called out once more, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you for as long as you wish and do absolutely anything that you want." Again the Project manager took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and put it back.

Finally, the frog demanded, "What's the matter? You can turn me back into a beautiful princess, and I'll stay with you for ever and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?"

The project manager replied, "Understand this; I'm a project manager. I simply don't have time for a girlfriend. But a talking frog...that's cool."
