Members Reception and Admissions Ceremony

Join us at Temple Bar, formerly one of the principal ceremonial entrances to the City since mediaeval times, for an unforgettable evening of networking and enjoying fine wines from the Company’s cellar.

The Members Reception, organised by the Membership Committee, is our flagship members’ event where we especially welcome new and prospective members, and provide an opportunity to discover more about our Company’s extraordinary activities. Members are particularly encouraged to invite guests who may be interested in joining the Company or are just curious about the Livery.

The Membership Committee has much to celebrate this year, having arranged the admission of 18 new Freemen in the last 12 months and we hope as many as possible will join us this evening. Please help us welcome them to the Company.

The Committee is inviting a number of prospective members, and we hope that members will also bring a guest. Non-members are particularly welcome and the Membership Committee will personally meet and greet you, and will introduce you to other members. You are all most welcome.

The programme for the evening will be:

  • Welcome and introduction to the evening by Malcolm Green, Chair of the Membership Committee
  • A few of our newly admitted Freemen will introduce themselves, tell us why they joined, and say what it is they like about the Company
  • Nick Bush, Chair of the Education Committee, will briefly update us on the Company’s educational activities and the contributions being made by our members
  • The Master, Andy Miles, will speak to us about his plans for the Company in 2025.
  • PM Chris Sutton will introduce his ‘virtual treasure hunt’ which will test your knowledge of the City while networking with members and guests over a glass of wine.

The remainder of the evening is then dedicated to enjoying brilliant conversation with fellow members and guests while enjoying wines selected from the Company cellar by PM Patrick McHugh, Chair of the Wine Committee, and accompanied by a selection of canapés.
