Tea Tasting and Afternoon Champagne Tea
The Art of Comparing and Contrasting Tea
It is little known that, earlier in his career, our Master once worked with the Tea Tasters at Typhoo. He has therefore organised this special one-off event in his livery year...
Come and test your tasting abilities and then enjoy High Tea in the Members Dining Room - sandwiches, cakes and the tea of your choice - followed by a glass of Champagne (should you wish to do so!).
Tea Tasting is one of the oldest continuing trades in the City of London - some 350 years and counting - and the afternoon will be hosted by Mike Bunston OBE and Malcolm Ferris-Lay, two acknowledged industry experts. They are co-founders and board members of The London Tea History Association.
In addition, Mike is presently the Honorary Ambassador for the Sri Lanka Tea Board in the UK, and Malcolm is a highly experienced tea consultant and world authority on the tea industry.
Between them, Mike and Malcolm have over a century of tea experience.
They will reflect on their experiences and the differences between tea growing areas, particularly India, Ceylon, Africa and China, focusing on plant varieties and the impact of seasons and microclimates. They will demonstrate this by guiding participants through tasting over a dozen teas.
