WCoMC smash their way around the second oldest Golf course in England....

A performance rarely seen in the LSGC's 150 years ....

The Golf Panel’s first 2015 event was held at the London Scottish Golf Club on 19th June 2015.

Taking part from the Company were:

David Shannon

David Peregrine-Jones

Jeff Herman

Ronald Cruikshank

Steve Edwards

Guests from other City institutions and the Richmond Group were:

Chris Grant

Diana Svirkiene

Wendy Wood

Thus we had two four-balls for the day.  The itinerary included coffee and filled rolls on arrival, 18 holes of golf, a two course meal in the Victorian Club Room after the round and presentation of prizes.

We were joined for the lunch by Corinna Edge who is also a golfer, but unable to play on the day.

On the warmest and sunniest day of the year to date we enjoyed unhindered play of this historic course on Wimbledon Common.  Established in 1865, and the second oldest golf club in England playing on its original course, the LSGC is Captained in this its 150th year by the legendary Colin Montgomerie.  Among the leaders in the first round of the USA Open, he was too pre-occupied to join us on the day.

This picture shows the lunch party after the prize giving - which for the record was:

- Best round measured by Stapleford Score:  Steve Edwards with a 38

- Longest Drive on the 17th hole:  Chris Edge with 250 yards straight down the middle of the fairway

- Longer drive on the 17th by the ladies: Wendy Grant, a good strike although just downwind of the fairway

- Nearest the pin on the 9th hole:  Jeff Herman, the only one to make (the edge of) the green

- For the prized wooden spoon:  David Shannon was just pipped to the lowest score by David Peregrine-Jones.

The event was highly convivial.  We were made most welcome and excellently looked after by the London Scottish Golf Club which may well now become our home venue.  More on this venerable club, a mere eight miles down the A3 from No.8 Dowgate Hill, can be accessed at: www.londonscottishgolfclub.co.uk.
