Providing Clarity on Charity Governance: What does good governance look like? What are the Roles of Trustees? How does the Board relate to the CEO Role?

One of the most challenging aspects in running a charity is ensuring good governance arrangements. The split of roles, responsibilities and power between Trustees and the Executive Team is fluid and complex.  There can be an intricate web of funding arrangements, management of service leads, volunteers and users of the charity which does not automatically make sense.

The first part of the workshop will be led by Ros Oakley, who is the Executive Director of the Association of Chairs and a governance expert at Cass Centre for Charity Effectiveness.  Ros will provide an overview of some of the challenges and issues in establishing good governance in charities.  There will then be ample opportunity to share and discuss our experiences within the charities with which we work.

If you would like to better understand charity governance, share your experience on working with charities, or consider that an update on the latest thinking would be helpful then this meeting one you should definitely attend.

Refreshments are available at 6pm and the speakers will start promptly at 6.30pm. Sandwiches and drinks will be available at 8pm and then the session will reconvene for further discussion and end at 9pm.
