Charities Supper 2020
Our ProBono Work in the Spotlight
Our ProBono work differentiates WCoMC from all other Livery Companies and other organisations providing support to the NonProfit Civil Sector, with our members providing over £1m of support per annum through their consultancy or mentoring work to numerous clients each year.
This is one of our defining annual events so we are very keen to share this traditional, yet relatively informal, occasion with as many of our contacts and clients in the Sector as possible, particularly introducing the spectacular setting of a City Livery Hall to them.
We would therefore encourage all members to invite such contacts and clients as guests to ensure this tradition continues. We are delighted to confirm that, as in previous years, this event has been sponsored and therefore the costs are lower than members and guests might expect given the location! If you are not able to attend and invite guests, do note that non-members may also book directly.
We have three speakers, all ProBono clients, who will talk briefly about their work and how they are going "onwards and upwards" following our help:
- Anita Tiessen: CEO at Youth Business International, which is an international network helping young people to set up their own businesses. Anita joined YBI in January 2018 after holding senior positions in two other international charities, and she is leading YBI's expansion into new countries. This is the tenth year of our work with YBI and we have undertaken over 50 assignments over that period.
- Sue Riddlestone OBE: CEO and founder of Bioregional, celebrating its 25th year of developing more sustainable ways of living. Sue will talk about her experiences with our mentoring services, which do seem to be increasingly in demand across the sector.
- Dr Sam Joseph: Sam is the joint founder of StreetVet, which started in 2016 and is aimed at supporting homeless people via their dogs (and occasionally other animals, including, we gather, a snake). From a standing start StreetVet now has a presence in 16 urban centres across England supported by well over 500 volunteers, both Vets and Veterinary Nurses, and have treated over 700 animals.
The supper will be preceded by an Admissions Ceremony, a traditional opportunity for existing members to welcome new Freemen and congratulate those who are being clothed in our Livery.
Members and registered Event Account Holders can click on this Participant Listing link to see who has booked.
