Members' Buffet Reception with Briefing on Values in Business
Wednesday 23rd July at 6pm

We will hold a Summer Buffet Reception after discussion of the most pressing issues in the conduct of business and the professions! One of the Company’s achievements has been to instigate and lead the City Values Forum, supported by successive Lord Mayors. This developed a set of products, not least the City Obligation, to improve the conduct of business following the financial crisis. They have been widely taken up. The instigators, Patrick McHugh and Richard Finn, will briefly present the evolution from the first proposal to the incoming Lord Mayor. The “products” will be of professional importance to all. Most of all, we will discuss what the new issues are in business that this Company could provide thought leadership on next. Your views would be valuable.

Most importantly!  A Buffet Reception will be held afterwards: the Master’s Summer Social. Guests are most welcome to the whole evening. Consider inviting friends and colleagues who may wish to get to know us a little better! All held in the exclusive setting of the Private Dining room on the top floor of the Guildhall Building with splendid views across Guildhall Yard to the Guildhall itself and the Art Museum. The cost of the event is £28.

Book your place now. (Bookings will close on Wednesday 16th July)

The event will be preceded by an Admission ceremony to which members and guests are most welcome. This is a special Professional Network Event and replaces the scheduled occasion on 10th July.

Cart Marking Ceremony - Guildhall Yard
Wednesday 16th July 10.45am

From handcarts to horse-drawn carriages, and steam-driven vehicles to the new London bus, see this parade of vehicles old and new into Guildhall Yard to be marked with a red hot iron by the Master Carmen and the Lord Mayor.   If you are interested in old vehicles, or just want to see a spectacle which is  part of a city livery tradition - no booking just turn up and watch.

Goldsmiths' Hall and Assay Office - Visit and Lunch
Tuesday 22nd July commencing at 10.30 am

The Company is delighted to be able to offer you a rare opportunity to have a backstage tour of Goldsmiths Hall and the Assay Office followed by lunch at the City Pipe.

The cost for the tour is £18.50 per head which will last about an hour and a half and you are invited to book on line.  Payment for this will be by direct debit in advance.  Payment for lunch, which is being held in a private dining room, will be made on the day and is likely to be in the region of £20 - £40 depending upon the number of courses.

Members are advised to book early (by 17th July at the latest) to avoid disappointment as numbers are limited to 15.

The Worshipful Company of Woolmen's Annual Sheep Drive across London Bridge

Sunday 5th October 2014

The Master of the Worshipful Company of Woolmen, Richard Excell, has decreed that the Company will organise another Sheep Drive across London Bridge this year, following the success of last year’s event.  The length of each drive will be a quarter of the length of the bridge and there will be specific photo opportunities for participants and photographs from last year’s event can be seen at www.sharpphoto.co.uk

The level of donations has been kept at £50 per person which will cover the provision of sheep, their health and well-being; the health and safety measures required by current UK law; the traffic control measures required by Transport for London; and a personal certificate signed by the Master of The Company confirming that their rights have been exercised successfully and in accordance with current tradition.

As last year, all proceeds will be divided between the Lord Mayor’s Appeal and The Worshipful Company of Woolmen’s charitable trust. Family and friends may accompany Freemen on the drive for the same donation.

The Company has booked a slot for 11am so members may participate in this very special event. If you are interested in coming along please e-mail The Clerk by 1st September so all the arrangements can be made.
